Most rainforest wildlife lives in the canopy, not on the forest floor — which is exactly why the walkway exists. It puts you at the same level as the birds, primates, and epiphytes that ground-level trekking simply can't reach.

What you'll see from up there
Hornbills and flycatchers are commonly spotted from the platforms, along with red leaf monkeys moving through the upper branches. Early morning is the best window, when canopy-dwelling species are most active and the light filtering through the leaves is at its best for photography.
Which lodge gives access
Borneo Rainforest Lodge has its own private canopy walkway, included as part of guided activities during your stay. The Danum Valley Field Centre also has canopy access, typically shared among guests rather than private.
The walkway sways naturally with movement and wind — completely normal and part of the experience, but worth knowing in advance if heights make you uneasy.
